Understanding Today's College Student: Findings from the 2018 Student Financial Wellness Survey

The September 2018 Financial Counseling call with the AFCPE will be held on Thursday, September 20th at 12pm ET.

Guest speaker Bryan Ashton with the Trellis Company, will be presenting, "Understanding Today's College Student: Findings from the 2018 Student Financial Wellness Survey".

In Spring of 2018 Trellis administered the Student Financial Wellness Survey to a sample of over 50,000 college students.  Students were asked to provide responses related to the student financial security, basic needs, paying for college, financial literacy and stress, student debt and perceptions of institutional support. 

Results from this administration will be presented and will include implications for practice as individuals work with students and borrowers of student loans.

Bryan Ashton serves as the Vice President of Community Investment at Trellis Company (formerly TG). In this capacity, Bryan is responsible for leading the organization's institutional support efforts, student support efforts (including student coaching, financial literacy and college access services) and higher education research and policy efforts. Additionally, Bryan is the Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Higher Education Financial Wellness Summit.

Bryan joined Trellis from Ohio State University, where he led the University's financial wellness efforts (including the nationally recognized Scarlet and Gray Financial Program) and served as the lead practitioner and co-investigator on the Study on Collegiate Financial Wellness.
