The Psychology of Investing

The Investment Planning Knowledge Circle is pleased to announce that Scott Bosworth CFA, from Dimensional, will be presenting on the monthly call May 22, 2018 at 3 PM EST. Scott has agreed to encore his FPA Retreat 2018 presentation, The Psychology of Investing.

A little about Scott, as a Vice President and Regional Manager, Scott Bosworth is responsible for sales leadership and management of some of Dimensional's larger advisory relationships. Scott is a frequent presenter at Dimensional conferences and advisor events. He started with Dimensional in 1996 as a Portfolio Manager and has been working with the advisor group since 2002. A CFA® charterholder, Scott holds a BBA from James Madison University and an MBA from Yale School of Management. While at Yale, Scott was a teaching assistant for Kenneth R. French, now professor at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business and Director, consultant, and Co-Chair of Dimensional's Investment Research Committee.

During his presentation Scott, explores the foundations of behavioral psychology and explains why behavioral finance and market efficiency are compatible notions. He also describes several cognitive biases and explains how yielding to them can encourage poor investment outcomes. Scott also describes the implications of human behavior from the opposing perspectives of an investor and speculator.
