Becoming a CFP® Professional with ADHD: Common Challenges and Strategies to Overcome Them

Guest speaker Axton Betz-Hamilton will be presenting, "Becoming a CFP® Professional with ADHD: Common Challenges and Strategies to Overcome Them."

An estimated 15.5. million U.S. adults have Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ADHD can present challenges for individuals aspiring to become CFP® professionals due to deficits in working memory, difficulties with organization, experiencing “time blindness” and more.  In this session, we will discuss common challenges those with ADHD encounter on their journey to becoming CFP® professionals and strategies to work through these challenges.

Axton Betz-Hamilton, AFC®, CRPC® is an Associate Professor in the Ness School of Management and Economics at South Dakota State University, where she teaches financial counseling and planning courses and conducts research on familial identity theft.  She earned a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from Iowa State University, an MS in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University, an MA in Research and Evaluation Methods from the University of Colorado-Denver, and an MS in Consumer Sciences and Retailing from Purdue University.  She is a current member of the AFCPE Board of Directors.
