Cracking the Code to College Finance

Guest speaker Michelle Richardson will be presenting, "Cracking the Code to College Finance."

EFC…SAR…FAFSA…CSS…IPEDS…Is this a new language? No, these are acronyms that are very prevalent in higher education finance. This session will provide and define these higher education terms and many more that are critical in successful college financial counseling.  We’ll also explore some lesser-known sources of college finance information, including IPEDS.

Ms. Richardson has focused her professional career in the education finance industry. With extensive experience at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Sallie Mae, USA Funds, and Chase Student Loans, she has spent over two decades counseling students and families on the value and return of a post-secondary degree. Prior to joining Bright Horizons College Coach®, Ms. Richardson served as a senior manager at USA Funds and developed education loan repayment and student success strategies for colleges in the Midwest and West. She holds a bachelor’s degree in banking and finance from Buena Vista University and a master’s degree in business administration from Cardinal Stritch University. Michelle is a member of several state financial aid associations and the National Association of Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA). Michelle is an accredited financial counselor through the Association of Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE).
