Women & Finance Knowledge Circle: Special Session to Discuss the Status of Minorities in Our Count
×
When:
Jul 9, 2020 from 14:00 to 15:00 (ET)
Please join us for an open session to discuss the events taking place in our country with respect to minorities. This conversation started to bubble up with June's presentation by Kathleen Burns Kingsbury when she talked about emotional intelligence and how we, and our clients can successfully navigate the difficult and stressful times we are all dealing with.
The premise of this session, which will be led by myself and Jocelyn Wright, CFP® is to give voice to our emotions, and think aloud as to what this moment in time means for us personally and professionally. We as women are certainly a minority in our profession, but many of us also represent racial, ethic, and sexual identity minorities. How do we translate what we are seeing and learning to our own personal and professional situations?
Strong emotions and radical ideas will be welcome and safe during this discussion. The only rule of participation is maintaining respect for each other.
I also promised to share with you the many books that our community have been reading and recommending during these stressful times. Here is what was recommended during the June webinar:
-
The Color of Money: Black Banks and the Racial Wealth Gap
(recommended by Rianka Dorsainvil on her trailblazer broadcast.
-
White Fragility
by Robin DiAngelo
-
The Half Has Never been Told: Slavery and the Making of American Capitalism
by Natasha Trampi
-
How to Be an Antiracist
by Dr. Ibram Kendi
Looking forward to our next discussion!
