When:  Apr 22, 2020 from 10:00 to 11:00 (ET)
The April 2020 International & Cross-Border Knowledge Circle will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd at 10 am ET.

Guest speaker Patrick Bourbon will be presenting, "Global Wealth Management and Cross-Border Financial Planning - How advisors can help expats living in the U.S. handle their typical issues."

Patrick will talk about asset allocation since future retirement spending may not be in the U.S. so there are currency risks. He will also talk about investing in foreign accounts.

If you plan to spend your retirement in a country with a currency not linked to the U.S. Dollar, you face currency risks. While you may be happy with the less expensive, better performing, and more tax efficient funds/ETF available in the U.S. and investing in U.S. stocks, if the value of the U.S. Dollar is down 40%, you may not retire in your home country with the income you expected. Your asset allocation should change depending on the location of your retirement.

Patrick was born in France but after coming to the U.S. in 1991, 1992, and 1996, and after a master in Engineering in Paris, he finally settled down in Chicago in 1999. While in business school, he started to face the typical issues that expatriate face since he was living between France and the U.S. In 2006, PAtrick was elected president of a French club in Chicago so he started to receive more questions while he was working at UBS between 2000 and 2010. In 2009 he to create Bourbon Financial Management. Over the years, he has specialized on cross border financial planning. He has had the great gratification of helping many global families, multicultural and highly intelligent expats to reach their goals. As a financial engineer, Patrick enjoys helping clients find solutions to complex financial problems.
